green cities: Dongtan and Masdar

green eco-towns or cities. Also known as sustainable cities. They are cities that following an urban plan and respecting the environment environment are now manufactured in different regions of the world, with the aim of demonstrating that it is possible to scale it had only been possible in small communities . As a point worth noting that the quality of "green city" does NOT guarantee an exercise in social autonomy. However, it is a good experiment.

Dongtan - China

Construction began in late 2006, and plan that the project ends in 2010, the year that touches Shanghai to host the World Expo's largest life green. "The first thing visitors notice is the silence, because there are so few cars on the streets." The city will be almost free of pollution, and electricity come from wind turbines and solar panels. Water from sinks and toilets will be recycled to operate the toilet cisterns.

cars will not be banned, but all the neighborhood schools, shops and workplaces are close enough to reach on foot. Most Chinese still do not own automobiles, and is not intended to require them in the new Dongtan.

farms within city limits provided the Most of their food and their waste water fertilize the fields. The city will have numerous parks, lakes and pagodas. There will be a marina for sail boat and an equestrian center. So the "green life" does not lack for entertainment.
